I'm Shannon Burgdorf. My husband and I have lived in Sumner County since 1997, where we raised our four sons. We have five grandchildren, with three generations of my family living in Trousdale and Sumner counties. For the past four years I've served on the county commission doing the work that doesn't make headlines: budgets, roads, audits, and ethics. I'm asking to keep doing it, because the job isn't finished.
Before I held office I was a stay-at-home mother running a one-income household with four boys. I managed every penny, and I learned to tell the difference between needs and wants. On the commission I've served on ten committees and chaired three. In 2025 I earned my Certified County Financial Officer certificate, a 13-month program run by the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury. A commissioner's first job is the county budget. I wanted to be trained for it.
